About Two exposures taken seconds apart using different exposures and f stops while working in a grove of mixed birch and maple. The Minnesota shoreline of Lake Superior is famouus for its fall colors. So... here is my rendition from Fall 2003.

This is really nice, it caught my eye immediately. I think I like the original sandwich even better. Nice to meet another Freeman/Andre fan - I'd love to take one of their workshops - if they still do them. Thank you for the kind comments on my images!

Thanks for your comments Bill...

I have to say I prefer the original sandwich version of Birch Grove (as included in your attachment) over this cropped and worked piece. The earlier one captures the serenity of the place whereas the posting above seems filled with panic... like the view one might experience running through the woods to escape a bear... the last thing I ever saw

Mary Sue - Thanks for directing me to John's image. I am familiar with the technique he used and use it along with slide sandwiches myself. I too was inspired by Freeman Patterson and Andre Gallant from the book mentioned by John. Attached it the original slide sandwich so you can seewhere this image came from. Thanks so much for your supportive comments on my image and the extra time in bringing John's work to my attention. This is greatly appreciated. You are a true foto friend.

Regards - Bill

What a wonderfully appealing view of the birch and maple trees. This image is reminiscent of one of John Charlton's from some time ago (http://www.usefilm.com/image/100207.html) that you might want to see. Although you each used different techniques, the effects are parallel.

As usual, your work is beautiful and captivating.

Nice creative work. I like seeing this kind of thing. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was just a panned picture. I like it, especially with that nice explosion of red. Well done.
