Good empathic portrait of a very definite person and a nice composition giving some context. The other versions seem to have disappeared but I don't think it would work so well without the colour.
Best wishes, Jonathan

Thank to all for your thoughtful comments. I think this photo is open to a lot of editing possibilities and hearing your reasons for chosing one over the other are very interesting to me. On the balance I do prefer the color version myself, but the other two have potential I think. The b/w as presented here fills her face with freckles, not that it is a bad thing, but it is not how I usually see her, it does frame her face nicely however. I do like the high-key treatment when done well, I think I just need more practice for that to be convincing :-)
Mary - the original shot is portrait format with much more red fleece in it - what was I thinking?!

Stefan,
I like the black and white version better too. The high key version just doesn't work - I think it detracts from her as does the color one (too much red imo). The black and white one puts the focus where it needs to be, which is on her. It also makes the background a much nicer place to be - more dreamy...I also like black and white because it is so kind to various skin tones...hers is good but I always like black and white...so for what it is worth...

Hello! Hello! My dear Stephan!!! This is my approach. Hope you like it! I'll email you! Hugs Dear Friend! PS. - Of all your versions I prefer the posted one. Marie is a very beautiful woman and her beauty is more visible in the first one...

Your original post is the best. I like the strong, confident look against the blurred background. Regards - Bill

Stefan, I'd go with the submitted one. Nice, straighforward and colourful. The desaturated one looks washed out and the BW one is OK, but not as good as the colour one.

hello Stefan, i see you practice Photoshop :) - I think at the black and white you loose too much and her expression changes a lot to the dark - the third version desaturted her face, too, not so good, too. So I would take the posted one, or, desaturate it a bit (-15), alsways with an eye on the skintone and the red jacket ... that crys a bit too much in the original version. If you allow I add my small changes

This third high-key version is new territory for me. The jacket was selectively desaturated.

This is the black and white version I settled on. Mainly green layer with some shadow and highlights taken from red and blue channels.
