About I've been trying out the different settings on this camera and I used my shoe mount flash to see how well they work together. I used a red gel and she was sitting about 4 feet away. Any suggestions/comments/critiques are appreciated! Photoshop: resize, crop, slight contrast adjustment and slightly sharpened.

Thanks for your comments everyone! This will make perfect blackmail material in about 10 years ;-)

Mark, she had blue eyes about 6 months ago, but they're a light green now. Now that you mention it, her hair does look somewhat lighter. I'll have to use the other gels and see what changes those make. That's one thing I like about this digital. I can see what effect different setting make right away (I've been using it in manual mode.) I can't always remember what settings I used after I get my prints back unless I use the 1 hour place the same day I take the photos. It's actually helping me understand all of this stuff alot better!

The red gel is very flattering for the skin tones, and darkens blue eyes in b&w. She does have baby blues, right? And it also lightens blonde hair. When she gets to her teens, you can show this to her friends. LOL.

Lovely black and white portrait. I love candid shots of children, in all their innocence :)
