Great composition! But it appears to be framed a little bit crooked to me. The roof of the palace is tilted a bit compared to the frame.

The separation of foreground and background has strong aestethic value, but it also makes a good symbolic statement.

I liked this one so much I downloaded it and played around with the perspective. The problem is not just the horizontal. There IS also a slight perspective effect: the camera is pointed slightly to the right of the center of that building, so its perspectives slopes away slightly to the left. This is unfortunate, as it also affects many of the other lines that should appear horizontal--in the pavement, for instance, and of course that roofline. I was able to get it looking right with a one-degree rotation to the right and a three-degree correction of horizontal perspective. Once that slightly unsettling effect is killed, the photograph really shows its quality, which is outstanding. I visited your website too, Yamaguchi San, and saw much that will look good on usefilm if you bring it over!

I like it just the way you are presenting it. I was there in 1979 and it hasn't changed. Akira, you do beautiful work. Alex

I like the original slightly off level photo. It gives you a slight vertigo that pulls you into the image (time space). Besides reality isn't level. Just my point of view though. Beautiful picture.

Very powerful image, but the image looks as though it needs to be leveled. The roofline is not parallel to the frame of the image. As a result the soldier looks to be leaning forward slightly. Be careful to keep your horizons level when shooting. Fortunately this can easily be corrected in Photoshop.

Well done. Light and composition are quite effective. You want to rotate this slightly to level the horizon though.
