Taken in rural Manitoba(Canada)last February It was minus 30 and wind was brisk. Had to cover camera and keep it warm trying to get this shot of an abandoned house. The reason the picture is not all that clear is due to the swirling snow. What do you think?
This is a nice scene. Looks almost black and white. I think that there is a little too much foreground to really make this work well in my opinion. You could try croping some in photoshop, to make the house a bit more prominent. Still, it is a nice photgraph...kind of sad actually.
I thank Sue for her comments. Because the branches were also to theright, I would have blocked the house as well. Also, to the left of the house was a modern steel shed that I did not want to have that in my picture. How dare farmers put there new fangled buildings next to rustic structures eh! Tomorrow, I will post the same building shot but I extended my zoom to take the branches out of the scenario. The picture will show the building surrounded only by white snow and no horizon. That day there was a whitout alert posted by the weather service. Fortunately, there is little traffic in that part of the world (In winter)
I really liked this shot for its foreground detail and its framing. Then I read the "about" and found I REALLY liked this shot. Kudos to you for braving the elements!
If you had stepped to your right just a little, the heavy branch might not have blocked the house so much and been less distracting - not that it's really obnoxious or anything. Of course, under the contemporary conditions, I wouldn't expect that you would dance around in the woods looking to eleviate a minor distraction. Nice photo.
