About I took this and did some stuff in photoshop that I know and I'm still learning to use it. What else (I'm sure there are a lot) can I do to make this photo interesting?

Personally, I love having color subjects with black and white backgrounds. I would make the background very very dark and black and white while making the saturation of the flower a little stronger. For the background Id just make a duplicate layer of the background and then desaturate it. bring up the contrast and lower the brightness after using selective color and blacks to increase the black from 0-20%. Then adjust the hue of the flower to bring out the reds a little more. I attached some of these changes but I only spent a few minutes so it can obviously done better if you spend about 15-20 minutes on it. Regards.

I think this rose is already very attractive - may be a more not focus on the backgroung?
even the light is perfect.

The only noticable problem is probably the reflection of the light o.n the leaves in the background it's a little to bright on them. It slightly pulls attention away from the rose. Only an opinion though.

I agree this macro is quite good - it's nice and sharp and your choice of subject provides for some interesting textures and colours (especially the contrast between the red and the yellow/brown on the edges of the petals).

I can think of two things to suggest. The first is a change of lighting. Because this photo is taken in natural light, there is a slight blueish cast to the photo, making the scene appear very cool. Personally, I think warming up the photo would suit the subject better. You can achieve this by eliminating the window light and using other light sources such lamps or flashlights (which gives off warmer coloured light). I'm not too familiar with your digital camera model, but if it has a white balance feature, using that would help too.

The background (i.e. the leaves), while complimentary, are reflecting a lot of that blue light. Because they are the brightest thing in this photograph, the eye naturally moves to them and not the flower. Again, a warmer light source might have helped; a polarizing filter could help as well.

Here's a quick PS fix, with warmer colours and the bg toned down a bit. :)
