Yeah, you're right, Ken. Perhaps it was just my yen for that wonderful set of SWestern colours...
Both are very nice picture. Personally, I can't decide which I like better.

Sue, I'm sure some would prefer the color version, some the B/W. I posted the B/W because there's more room for varying artistic judgment on it, with more input from the photographer via Photoshop; with color one is typically just trying to reproduce something like what the eye saw. The branches get lost about equally either way, I think. You can see the original on my web site at http://math.usc.edu/~alexandr/arizona.html .

Very nice! I like the vertical composition and the weathered tree leading the eye to the horizon and wonderful clouds. Super job.

Wow, very cool. Makes me rue the fact that we didn't get to visit Canyon de Chelly while we were out west. This photo gives a good sense of the grandeur and mystique of the Arizona.
Some of the branches get lost in the detail of the background. Would color minimize or worsen this? Is there a reason that you converted to B&W? I'm curious about the conversion.
