Great composition. The light is magical and has produced a wonderful abstract, Vernon! All naturalism aside, I would have removed the pollen spots.

Dear Ann,
thank you. I guess I was fortunate - early morning just after sunrise - if I remember correctly it was overcast, but the colours were just amazing and I did not want to do anything to it. Just cropped the centre of the flower.

Kim, the white dots are pollen...i do not scan, as this is taken with a digital camera. I wanted to keep the photo true to what I saw, therefore, no changes to colour, contrast or anything else apart from cropping.

From the thumbnail it looked like light sparkling on the petals, but in the larger version I wonder what the white dots are? They don't look like pollen, but instead dust flecks from a dirty scan. Knowing that you are meticulious with your work I can't think that it's a dirty scan. Have you thought about removing them in PS to smooth out the flow of the petals?
Love the colour, and the deeper look inside the flower.
