Hi Scott, I think this is very good. I have never tried to photograph emus but I will take your word for it as to the difficulty. To me everything works on this image, its sharp, great dof, wonderful closeup composition. I would try a different usefilm border, your top left area gets a little brighter and my eye gets fooled into thinking the white border is part of the picture. just a small thing, but easy enough to experiment with and see if a different border works better :)
