Petrus says: "Rules or no rules Jorge. A bad photo will always be a bad photo."
It remembers me people saying" I like music, but only good music" Don?t you think you can not define such subjective thing as good or bad ,without the support of your cherished rules? Your statment is the model of the subjectivity crowned as the ultimate truth...That?s not the best way to prove something.
Best regards
jorge

My answer is to Petrus and Phillip.
It is a rather strange fenomena,to me, any time I have some thing to discuss, with a critic, using polite words, giving , not only opinions , but facts,my critics think I react as being offended or as it was something personal. On the other hand I verify ,very few dare reply to critics, either they don?t care or they are affraid to say no.Again, I must say I answer critics in the same manner critics are done: to clarify, to discuss a theme,to tell my point of view.
I have made , very often , my point, I do not believe ,I do not accept to follow rules , in the same way as it is the case with paint.Software and digital made most of them useless or ridiculous.I want to be free to do things the way I like, as a painter do.I have nothing personal against critics, only I do not follow their opinions, most of the time. Was I clear? Are you convinced I have nothing against both , but my best thanks for their trouble to convince me to follow the rules? I hope you understand my point. OK?
Nice regards
jorge

Having just returned from a photo club meeting and listening to professional photo judges for the past 3 hours and having things beat into my brain, let me offer some more critiques on this image.

Other then being overexposed as was mentioned above, this picture lacks a point of interest. There is nothing that draws your eye other then the overexposed part as it is the brightest area on the screen.

The image needs to be shot in more of a diffused light. It is way to contrasty. The green in the leaves should be visible throughout not just in the highlights. It should not be detailess black.

Make yourself a scrim out of parachute material or some other translucent white cloth and suspend it over the plant to act as a diffuser and soften the light. Your image will be much better in color, detail and contrast. You might find a bird or bug or something you can toss in there too so that you have some center of interest.

As mentioned above, don't take this personal. It is meant to be a critique in the spirit of improving the image.

Jorge, thanks for responding to my comment, I guess you could have done it here and not in my photo, so that others could follow as well. Either way, it's not a problem. If anything thanks for taking the time to check out my pics :-)

You said: "Itá a very good composition , a new way to shot a flower.
My yellow flowers, in your opinion, are over exposed. You do use PS or other software? If so, you must know over or under exposed is an option,it has no meaning, in terms of wrong light metering. If you know a Nikon Coolpix 5700 I only can under or over expose , by purpose. Thanks for your comments,
Regards
jorge"

Mate, you don't have to take a suggestion as to how to improve your photography as harsh criticism nor should you take it personally. An overexposed image is just that: Overexposed. You can argue till the cows come home, but it isn't going to make an overexposed image look any better. I'm not saying that this image is bad. Far from it. I quite like it. All I'm saying is, shoot this at a different time of day, so that you get more pleasing light, which will render you a better image with less contrast (which by the way, ruins the photo here)

Interesting composition (although I find it lacks a little), but unfortunately this photo is overexposed. Perhaps if you shot this at a different time of day, when the light wasn't that harsh.

Keep posting :-)

Jorgè, I'd say your composition is perhaps a little too expansive here, and you got too much light on the upper "petals" of your flower. To me, there's just not enough of a center of interest to provide a magnet for my eye here.
