I think the posing table may have been a bit too high for her. I did adjust it some, but I think that's why the hand may look rigid. Not sure.

Hey Phillip,

First, this is a nice shot. It looks natural and her personality seems to be coming through.

Two things...

1) The hand is too hot
2) The hand position is a little bothersome. Too rigid! I would be looking for a "softer" position of the hand.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi again Phillip. I take your point about work submitted for posting on this or other sites. I have not yet learned to use studio light this effectively. I really liked the shot here in case that was in doubt. :)

Cheers!

Hello Jeff. I normally don't get too hung up on catch lights when just posting a pic here, or any other site. Now if I'm going to get prints made from this pose or any other, I usually look for the 2nd catch light if it's there from a light or reflector.

Reflector in this case. Yep, the hand is a weeee bit warm. This girl has a very deep tan, and I had to take out my gold panels in my softbox after I started shooting.

TIA

Hi Phillip. I love the muted colours and the natural pose. It has a nice soft feel that I think is just right for this type of portraiture. I have been trying to gain some skills in studio work and I am reminded of my mentor's voice in my ear saying "you should not have two catchlights in the eyes as it detracts from what we normally expect to see". What do you think? Is an image like this worth losing the lower catchlights in PS? I liked the separation between the model and the background. Is the hand under her chin a little hot? Nice skin tones. Nice work!

Cheers!
Jeff
