Not much I can add here - it's all about the lighting and you just nailed it. Also, though, something about the window just suggests "looking inward" on some subconscious level... the first thought I had when I saw the image is that this, to me, really was an intimate portrait.

Thanks, Katia; thanks Aurthur, thanks, Stephen, Thanks Terry, Thanks Mike. This was one of the easy ones that just did in the camera what you saw in your fantasy eye that those of us that do this every day look for.

Very, very nice. Hope we're looking at a ground floor window though...

William-- this is a very warmhearted photograph. It says so a great deal in such a simple way. The softness complements the warm tones? such a peaceful pose. Just a wonderful piece!

William,

The light in this image is fantastic. What more can I say?!

The light is all natural. That's why I took the shot. This is just the kind of light I am always looking for. Probably shoot less than 5% of my shots with the sun behind me. In this particular case the sun is hitting the front of the house and bouncing around. It is also coming in through the window and hitting the white walls of the room and bouncing back enough to fill in some his features. The only potential negative is the intensity of light around his head. This is caused mostly by the soft focus filter--however--without it, a lot of the mood would be lost.

Thanks for your comment, William.
I love the light around the silouette of your son: how did you optain it? Not with a flash?
