The sharpness is better I think. The composition is less original than in the other shot. The lighting is better here, a hint of a catchlight can be seen in the eye - you could dodge the catchlight to enhance it.
The orange stroke around the photo reduces the impact of the beak (the orange/black/white set of colours would have been very strong, but the stroke takes away from that - this is the same issue as with Alan's peacock photo).

This is beautiful! The texture on the swan's neck and head are captured very well. The depth of field turns the water into a nice unintrusive background.
