About
A circa 1875 hay and grain rake for gathering grain crops. The teeth ran along the ground under the hay without digging into the ground. As the hay piled up, the metal tines retained it until the rake was full. Then the rider would pull the lever and empty it into the row. After the hay had dried it would be bundled or placed in a wagon and taken to storage for the winter.
