Hi William...I did some of this type of experimentaion my self with B&W images using all types of paper and cheesecloth. I did mine with B&W images. I dont really notice the affect in your image maybe because the colors in the images are so saturated and possibly it isnt showing as much when reduced in size. I have a couple in my portfolio you may want to look at *smile* Maggie

Bill is right: Let's save some bandwidth for photos. These comments just take up space. I could go on and on about this.

Terrence:
Nothing about your experience was stated or implied.
I'm more disappointed that you have deleted your photos than the fact that you haven't posted them.
Let me clarify. When someone comments on my work, I like to look at the broad diversity of theirs. Not to judge, but to get a view of their instincts and personalities.
Yesterday I read a comment on a photograph that I really didn't agree with. I went to the commentator's index and then to his website. After seeing his work, I had a better understanding of where he was coming from and I learned from that.
I had forgotten I was a photographer until I got involved with this site. It has given me an opportunity to re-examine and analyse why I do what I do and why I love this art. In two weeks I will be back at 20/30 rolls a day, seven days a week. Auto pilot. Bread and butter stuff. No time for introspection.
When I first responded with your original comment, I told you I agreed with you.
Let's save some bandwith for photos.
Bill

I beg to differ, Bill. (While I'd prefer that we kept the discussion to the image and it's merits), I would like to quickly point out that implying I don't have enough experience to provide useful feedback on images is obviously intended to be offensive. If it explains the mystery, I tend to delete 75% of my images to keep my image index to a minimum, I'm as familiar with the shortcomings of my own work as I am anyone else's, but as I take moving the quality of my images forward seriously I have no interest in displaying work from as recently as last year - it wouldn't be indicative of where I am and where I'm going in terms of imaging (hence the ire over categorizing an image as being part of a project that is supposed to be a current work inspired by the plentifully detailed and complete description provided, when in fact the exposure occurred many years in the past). "Projects for Photographers" does not mean "flood the server with your backlog of images." Let's have the comments remain relevant to the image from here out shall we~

Wow, guys, this photo is going to make me famous (make that infamous). I'm considering a seance to see what Picasso thinks.
Seriously, I wasn't offended by Terrance's opinion. I do wish he would post more of his work (37 photos/537 comments) But as Terrance says in his bio: 'living proof that knowing a lot of technical ideas is no good unless you try them now and then'.
Playing around in the darkroom got me nationally published when I was in my early twenties. I dropped the ball and didn't follow through.
This shot has some very unique textures and light--but you can't see the detail on the net. It's one of those subtle things that only show up on a large print.
But experimentation and risk give us the opportunity to grow or quit.
Our choice.

I didn't say anything about the picture, just Terrence's style of commenting :-)
The picture doesn't work for me, but that's personal indeed.

Jeroen...
There is nothing wrong with Terrence's comment and you aren't being fair.
This is a critique site and he he merely stating obvious problems with this image.
It's perfectly acceptable to ask what the photographer was trying to do and what they saw in this image.
I for one, am glad that he calls it like he sees it and I wish more people would critique instead of compliment.

Most people are nicer than Terrence and refrain from posting the comments he does :)

By the number of views this shot has gotten I think you ARE the forum. When I shot this I liked the light. Now that I compare it with other work, you're right--I would have done better with plastic flamingos. Thanks for stating the obvious--it is most useful. Sometimes you just slap mud against the wall--you know the rest!

Aside from toying around with tissue paper in the darkroom, what is the appeal of this image to you? I'm not seeing much in the way of visual elements or cues to make this work beyond "dark lawn with wheels"
