I was working on two remote sandy islands off the eastern Victorian coast (Corner Inlet), surveying the breeding progress of beach-nesting shorebirds. The sand had been blasted by the winds and formed sastrugi-like ridges (name given to ice in similar form). I used PS to give the photo a more grainy appearance, in other words, just like sand!
I love the composition, but... thats much too much grain. Digitally added grain rarely looks spot on, and here to me at least it comes close to ruining the shot. If you insist on making it this grainy - consider going to b&w. Or just go a faster film.
