Ken, Didn't mean to go on so above, as now I notice from looking at other images in your portfolio that you have great skill and finesse with your backgrounds. I think the feel I was going after is like the one in your Caracara shot, which is absolutely incredible... Mahalo, GP.

What a magnificent capture of this strikingly beautiful bird. I love the toning choice here, and the detail is terrific. I also like your composition alot. I just think background appears a bit too flat, and your blending of subject to BG needs a little more work. Believe me, I know how tricky this can be, as I often have to fiddle with BG's myself. I might first give the lighting effects filter in PS a shot to give some shading and depth, or even a gradient to simply alter the flat tone, or even a bit of texture (maybe all three! That's what layers are for ;-))- just something to give that BG a bit of life. It may also help disguise a bit of the edge blend of the bird. The left (viewer's) side edge of the bird seems perfect up to the lower beak, then a bit too sharp, then a little bit of line apparent. Again, I'd start with the BG, perhaps a bit more edge feathering up top, and don't be afraid to very lightly burn or dodge (with a middle tone setting) the edge to help blend as well... Just my two cents...;-)... This image is too great not to be perfect... Outstanding, Ken...

A wonderful and original, interesting kind of eagle portrait! Really beautiful sepia toning, while keeping the eyes in real colour! Great details too! The cropping on right side feels a little bit tight though.

The toning is excellent the detail well seen and the tight crop really adds impact to the image...the only nit I have is the top of his head has a fine dark line between the white feathers and the background...could be a result of not feathering the selection or sharpening...a little blending would make it perfect...excellent capture

Great sharpness in this capture Ken, the only thing that i dont like is the sharp border from the blured background, it looks almost like the eagle?s head is cut out and glued onto another paper.
