Excellent composition and great clarity!!! Imo the "dirt" on bottom right is just right there! It sets an additional accent which adds to the composition. Danke für Deinen Besuch und lieben Gruß aus Hamburg :)

It seems a moonscape with some strange plant that decided it liked the moon's atmosphere.

I like the flatness and abstractness of this approach to the subject.

Hallo Volker!

I like your idea very much. The implementation is very good as well. Nevertheless, I would like to make couple of suggestions that I think may benefit your work. Please consider the following. (1) Remove the little rock (or whatever it is ) from the right bottom corner. I think it doesn't belong to your original composition. You should be able to do it easily in PhotoShop. (2) In order to make the picture more 3-dimensional, maybe you could consider taking it from some angle rather than from the top. The 3-D effect might be enhanced by using a shorter lens and shooting from closer distance, thus making the ground to be just a little bit off focus. (3) Also, it seems to me that you might try to make the plant a little bit smaller.
Just some ideas to make this very good work even better.
Congratulations.

Nice details! Wow! the mangroves! I simply wanna be there again. In the sand and mud.
The sapling looks like Avicennia sp. Best wishes.

Thank You for the friendly comments!
@Darrin:
It's not dirt but a worms hole, so I left it untouched :-)

I love the simplicity here. The ground effect is fantastic, I only wish the dirt on bottom right wasn't there. Well seen.

Volker, what a grate shot. Excellent DOF and composisiton. The contrasting colors is what first got my attention. Thanks for mentioning the PS works, it helps (me) evaluate the shot.
