Look inside the diamond. There's so much there to discover. Use the chromatic aberation to your advantage. Go in deep.

This was done using external Halogen lights, no flash, 1/4 zoom which seems to be the sweet spot for the camera. I have a macro lens but it creates major chromatic aberations

I agree with the glare and I plan to try using a polarising filter to see if it makes any difference

I have never tried this, but it seems to me that the light source needs to be off to the side slightly...this seems like it was from the on board flash?..I also think that if you don't zoom and use just your optical zoom from a distance you will pick up more detail..just some thoughts as they pertain to flowers...I'm sure with the gems there is much more involved to keep the lighting from becoming a glare...but i definitley think you need to get more detail...perhaps the answer lies with a macro lense?..just my 2 cents
