Hi Ania,
Sorry for the late reply. To answer your question, I'm thinking maybe there is just too much difference between the harsh light and the dark shadows. But then again, when I read your title, I believe it is intentional. If you wanted to bring out some more detail in the shadow areas, I think there is a low fill-in flash setting on the Fuji compact cameras. This type of shadow and light image also works well in Black and White or sepia. That would be another thing you might want to try even with this image.

I'm not so sure I like the experiment with shadows in this case Ania. I much prefer the similar photo of a different set of columns called Sukiennece II.
