On this photo you can see Michaylovskaya Cathedral Kiev Founded in the 5th century, Kiev is the mother city of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. All three descended from Kievan Rus, the Slavic super-state that existed from the 9th to the 11th centuries. Since then, Kiev has survived Mongol invasions, devastating fires, communist urban planning and the massive destruction of WWII. The main attraction is the 11th century Michaylovskaya Cathedral, the city's oldest standing church, which contains some of the country's greatest mosaics and frescoes.

I always like to see pictures of unusual (for me!) places. The light blue church with the dark blue sky looks gorgeous and the gold parts provide a nice, shiny contrast. Light is great, in my opinion. I am lowering the composition score because of the persons in the front, although I understand you could do nothing to avoid them. The picture would probably have been too static with an empty frontyard, but the tourists (or so they seem) are not the best subject. Bye,Luca
