About I came across this shot from two years ago, and wonder if anyone would care to comment on the play of light and colours which I find very attractive. I just wonder if it has the same appeal to others... All criticism welcome.

That's an interesting comment, debdatta, as the pool of light and the little tree standing in it were the real reason why I took this shot! I think it provides a focus or center of interesting. I am sorry you find it distracting but I appreciate your comment! Thanks...

Roger,
Sorry about the name error. The picture is definitely a "go back to see again" photo. Darryl

Yes Roger ... so very attractive and so very beautiful contrast between light and colors ... and like the leaves are really playing the symphony !!!

If your camera can display histograms, you can reduce the exposure until the brightest parts just start clipping. Then you can use your image processing program to boost the brightness of the shadows. This way, you may suffer increased noise in the shadow areas, but that's better than losing details in the bright areas--you can never get those back. Once you have a reasonable range of contrast you can start playing with the colours. I was lucky with this shot; didn't have to do much of anything!

Wonder what is the lighting condition to get a shot like this. My shots in woods always have too much contrast to show color right.

Ummm, that's "Roger" actually. But I appreciate the comment! It was the contrasts in lighting and colours that attracted my eye and somehow the balance looked about right in the viewfinder...

Robert,
I love the bright light and colors that create the cool shade under the trees. Quite relaxing. Darryl

Hello Roger, this image is really a simphony. Great armony of colours and shapes. Well balanced between ground and sky and the small tree is a good subject to focalize the eye.
Really good
Bye

GG
