Hmm, no, the pope is resting in Rome, as other popes. The Wawel Cathedral is a place of resting of most of Polish kings, also a few saints, national heroes like Piłsudski and Sikorski, and poets, like Mickiewicz.
It seems controversial, yeah, personally I think Warsaw Cathedral or Powązki Cementry would be a proper place, as the Persident was born in Warsaw and loved the city. Seems that main bishop of Kraków and also President's family wanted to honour him and his wife... And even if it's a bit controversial, I still don't think it's proper to argue over his coffin, just before the funeral, like some people did in Kraków... :/
