About Looking north from the viewing platform of the Peace Tower in Canada's Parliament Buildings. The Ottawa River is the boundary with the province of Quebec and the city of Gatineau on the other side. At the extreme right is the National Art Gallery, and at the left, across the river is the Museum of Civilization. The dome in the foreground is on the Parliamentary Library.

Other than the bit of window reflection in the upper right hand portion of the picture (hard to avoid I know) this is a great shot of our nation's capital. Nice placement of the library building in the frame.

Very nice shot looking North too. Did you give any thought to cloning out the Window reflection?

Nice to see you too, Dave, in the upper right corner of your page.
THank you for your comment. The photo was taken by Rachel on a boat-trip along the Danube.
Before we went we deliberated, as it was quite an axpensive trip until I said: "Who knows if we can do it next year? I'll be 80 next February"
But right after we returned, Rachel's lung cancer was diagnosed & she is in chemotherapy since then. To make things worse, she fell yesterday & fractured her pelvis. Nothing big, but it's painful & forces her to be bed-ridden for the coming 6 weeks.
Let's smile through 2010 all the same,
Rafi

And what a view it is, Dave! The very strict palette, remaining on blue hues, seems to really describe the essence of the view. I think that even the reflection if the window in the top right of the image manages to still remain a part of it just because it stays in the blues in such a great DoF!

There is an excellent sense of the horizon and also a good sense for the shadows here. The image looks so very "alive" and "real", and it manages to convey the look and feel of "beeing there", "seeing all that with the own eyes". Some tiny amounts of oversharpening here and ther can't change the vivid character of this one.
