I don't agree with the suggestions of b&w or monochromatic version. :)
I think the photo is excellent, as your first thought was.
The dead flower could be a symbol of dead friendship...or a feeling.
That is how I see it.
I think it is very original, and very creative as well as the message it carries.

If your picture is under exposed, so the noise will appear stronger. Make sure you do not underexpose, or try to compensate +.....5+ best,riny
