true you are Nick...its always like learning and applying at once as here perhaps none can reach 'THE' perfection...I am just enjoying the journey with people like you!

I couldn't nail it down so definitely, Abhik... Its is really "mastering alphabets and then moving to Shakespeare".

It includes both appetite for learning but also learning for a distinct reason, so all aspects are covered in a wholistic approach without that artificial "competition" between knowledge and application on knowledge - you surely know what I mean.

And of course we keep in touch. Just keep on doing your photography.

True Nick…It’s like mastering alphabets and then moving to Shakespeare! Being a highly machine-dependent Art form, ‘Photography’ took quite some time to get recognized as a form of fine-art, as a legitimate language of expression (thanks to the bygone masters). So before setting the ’spur-of-the-moment’ into motion we need to master the rudiments - and that learning is somewhat unending! Besides, I have always yearned to be a profound observer…and that’s what I bank on!...your comments and discussions are extremely encouraging and driving….hope hear more from you in times to come….Thanks again…Abhik

And it is even more gratifying to see such good photos from you guys out there, especially when so many others keep on posting the usual overpixelated images, Abhik! It is a real delight to see that there are also such good photographers like you.

Which should always remind one of the fact, that the "spur-of-the-moment" alone no way suffices for good images. The spur-of-the-moment we all have, that's piece of cake. But it is not somehow connected to the mechanisms of our cameras, unfortunately. One needs technique and you really show that you have it here. Not to speak about the careful observation that you did - most people wouldn't even notice. You see... it is neither a "nice flower" nor a "happy baby". ;-)

Thanks a lot for the infor on the making too. So many times such extraordinary opportunities will arrive... But one has to notice them too.

Cheers!

It's always immensely gratifying to come across an observer like you who effortlessly slips himself into the shoes of the photographer and strives to construe likewise.Firstly, I think every great photograph is a spur-of-the-moment thing and not planned per se.This photograph was taken in Kumortuli(Potter's quarter)in Kolkata. Here while I was talking to the potter, his feet, marooned by an 'aesthetic' mix of mud and chips, drew my attention as that aptly displayed the spirit of his involvement as a potter in the making...and I couldn't let the chance go!...and the created the 'fiction of vision'...thanks Nick.

A very refreshing and original composition, Abhik! It includes the main subject in quite a surprising way, as one would "expect" to see the while legs and feets in good details and not necessarily such a strong focus on the mud, but you went a dofferent way. The foot, and only that, stands in a good focus, just as an "introduction" to the details of the wet ground. The tonla range only enhances that, the way the darker tones combine with the highly reflective nature of the water on the ground. Perhaps a bit of overexposure and "harsch contrasts" on the top left due to the necessity to capture the details of the ground around the foot so well, but even that contributes much to the "fiction of vision" - i.e. the imaginative continuation of the image in the direction of the top left. Still I guess that a bit less exposure would retain all that and turn the contrasts and details a bit less "harsch".

Cheers!
