This is a tough shot - variations in light and shadows, DOF, etc. Well done!

great shot. what a place, it looks amazing. if you ever venture up to scotland, try the fairy glen in the black isle for some other interesting falls.

Megan, this was a very good attempt. I recently learned that falls should be photographed in bright overcast light, not full sun. That allows details in the shadows without blowing out the water's highlights. The only other thing you could have done for this image, was to use a graduated filter and turn it vertical instead of horizontal, placing the dark side over the bright half of the image. That would hold back the bright exposure until the dark shadow area could catch up to the right side exposure. Try it again if possible. Shoot with out the sun on it. All the beautiful colors will come up.

Sometimes I feel the story behind the photo really adds a lot to the experiance. I usually leave behind the ONE thing I really need too (like the other day, 25 min drive, without tripod and me using a 500 mm lens, with and without a 2x converter. Went back again with tripod, but not the piece that you screw onto the camera to place it on the tripod...I was royally ticked at my self). My only nit about this photo, is the darkness of the left side of the falls as we see it here - a lot of detail lost. The shutter time was perfect tho.

great shot Megan...the water is a little overexposed but thats typical of long waterfall exposures. The overall result is excellent.
