About	The ‘akad nikah’ ceremony. The imam of the local mosque performing the ‘akad nikah’ or the wedding contract in the presence of several witnesses from both parties. As you can see, the imam is holding the groom’s hand while reciting the contract. The ceremony is carried out on the floor of the mosque. The groom is seated on a specially made cushion with the imam seated in front of him.
