sincere apologies Brigitte and Anthony for the misunderstanding.let me tell u that i did love this image and have rated you 7.the first part of my comment as u can see is in English.somehow,as i was writing,i got absentminded and was thinking that i am commenting on a photo by a Bengali photographer(the language i speak) and wrote the rest of the comment in that Bengali language.Atish Sen has rightly translated it. Sincere apologies and deepest respect.

Randy, that's a good observation about the lack of moss. I noticed it too but didn't give it further thought. Your guess is better than mine... but I doubt that it is due to high water... maybe it's the snow line? I really don't know. There are no elk in the area, but there are deer but I don't know what kind of animals eat moss. I tried to google for info, but didn't have much luck.
About the underexposure... it is something I have just begun to dabble in. I was becoming frustrated with constantly over-exposing similiar scenes and so I just decided to give it a try and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised - it did produce the kind of results I highly admire in other images I've seen. I am learning one major fact about photographyy though... the more I photograph, the more I realize how complex it is. The thing I really like about it is that it really causes me to "focus" on nature... where I find peace in this world.

I will have to agree the slight underexposure added to the image................ I am a master at underexposure, but usually to an excess and wishing that I hadn't. :) Nice work. Do you know if the lack of moss on the first 5 or 6 feet of those trees is from elk, or high water? "hardly a soul visible" sounds like my kind of place. ;)

I am most grateful to you Atish for clearing up my rash misunderstanding - it was very generous of you, and I apologise most sincerely to Subhranil, whose work I admire.
It was clearly my (Anglophone!) mistake for thinking Brigitte's work was being attacked rudely. She is a person for whom I have the greatest respect, both as a person who loves photography and art, and also as someone whose presence on UF is hugely-felt.
Sincerest apologies,
Anthony

Lovely shot.great mood. Since there is a little bit confusion with Subhranil's comments as it is written in Bengali, which is my mother tongue, I thought i will translate it. Bah in Bengali is an exclamation meaning excellent. translation of the rest is 'excellent shot...Reflection , composition is excellent... since it is underexposed , colors are more enhanced'. I hope this clears the confusion. i am a little bit confused why Subhranil wrote this comment in Bengali. Regds

Thanks so much StingRay for your ongoing support and always gracious comments. You are one of the reasons I enjoy posting to UF, you always put in so much effort to give a good critique always emphasizing on the positives. You make me want to keep trying harder to improve my work because I know someone out there appreciates it - thank you so much for that my friend. I don't know what is the deal with the comments that were left here by others, but I'm guessing it is a misunderstanding. But if anyone's rude, well I just think it's a poor reflection of the type of person they are if they have to criticize someone elses work - perhaps they like the attention it brings to them. Anyway, I try not to get dragged into situations like that and just hope that my images make someone smile. There is too much beauty in this world to let a few bad folks get ya down. :-) Hugs back to you!

A beautiful peaceful scene Brigitte with lovely natural tones and wonderful reflections in the gently rippling water. I also delighted in reading your 'about', almost poetic sweetie. Great photography as always from you. I found the exchanges between Anthony, Subhranil and yourself a little worrying, I do hope there is nothing negative intended, you do not deserve that. A big HUUUUUUG and my very best wishes to you as always......Ray

Thanks for your awesome comments as always Anthony... your descriptive words are so very appreciated! I do not know what Subhranil was saying in the other language, in fact, I don't even know what language it is. I'm assuming he thinks I speak the language... maybe "bah" doesn't mean bah like we know it to be in English. Hopefully he'll give a translation :-) I did notice he mentioned "underexposed" in the sentence... to which I was surprised, but he is absolutely right, I did underexpose the image 1 stop. Anyways, hopefully it isn't anything negative he's saying... either way, does not matter. Of course, I love positive comments, or at the least, constructive criticism. But I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if it was meant to be rude in anyway. And yes, there are some who can be mean, but I just try to ignore them. There are still a few of use "nice one's" left here, although, like you, I have seen several of the nice one's leave since the beginning of the year. Hopefully Usefilm management will do something to retain more of the better members who contribute much to the community.

OK, I shall expand on this theme, and forgive me Brigitte, for I think we need some clarification.
One the one hand, in English, Subhranil is quite clearly saying he loves your photo.
On the other, preceded by "bah" he reverses his opinion totally, in some thinly-disguised, absurdly obvious argot, of a kind I have seen here on UF recently among the cognoscenti. I am sure you have already seen through it.
On the merits of your image, many could debate, but that isn't the point. WHY this apparent furtiveness; this naked duplicity? I find it at once puzzling and despicable.
I know I have been away from UF for a long time, and I do hope I'm not missing some obvious point, in which case, my unreserved and abject apologies.
My best regards,
Anthony

As ever Brigitte, I find your "Abouts" wonderfully-informative, and they provide context. In this photo, you certainly DID capture this remote and inaccessible place, and I'm envious of your ability to visit them. I absolutely love places like this.

Anthony
