That must be the reason for the focus loss at the right, Avi. Thinking of that, I would be only happy for a lens that can really focus from 0 to infinity. Not from "almost 0" but really from 0. But it is hard to do already because of optics.

With "see-through-lens facility" I mean the many different names that different cameras and brands use for the same thing: Actually the possobility to see through the lens at your real working aperture and not at some "standard" aperture. The difference is that you then see the image as the camera will see it when the aperture will open to the adjusted stop.

For example, many cameras/lenses will allow you of course to compose and focus and setup, but you do that by looking at your subject through a standard aperture of, say, f/4.5. But if you had adjusted f/2.8 or f/16 the DoF that you see while tweaking the controls is of course nit the same like what the camera is going to see when you press the shutter.

On my T90 the lever to manually open the aperture exactly at the adjusted stop and see though that aperture while focusing etc., is called "working aperture" lever. But I think that othe companies will name it differently.

Another interesting thing is that you can really see how the DoF gets greater and greater but also the light gets lower and lower towards narrow apertures, and what actually hyperfocusing exactly does. I use it almost all of the time. Very useful piece of functionality.

Cheers!

Nick

yes, I was pretty close to them. I think that the problem here is the line of bottles are at an angle to the plane of the lens; hence the ones on the left are in good focus, but the ones on the right suffer from being less than the minimum distance of good focus.

But I do not know about a see-through-lens facility.. I am intrigued.. what is that ??

cheers,
Avi

Well, Avi... 99% of the spectators only look quickly and dirty. 1% has real interest to study an image, which means work too, that of course the 99% doesn't need to do as natural born artists. ;-)

Seriously now, did you try to use something like a direct see-through-lens facility on your camera? And can you apply hyperfocusing some easy way with that lens? This could work here, except of course if the camera was closer to the front bottles than the minimum distance of sharp focus of the lens was.

Cheers, and how glad I am for that something you got for me!!!! Thanks a bunch-o-bunch!!!

Nick

Yes Nick, I was surprised why nobody saw that the bottles towards the right are a bit out-of-focus. I wasn't too happy about that !

By the way, I sent you couple of important mails about 3 weeks back.. I got something for you !! :):)

We'll keep the cheers for later then..
till we talk again,
Avi

Well, exactly that city as it lives and exactly that beat of its rhythm! The emoty bottles do add some little of that atmosphere "the morning after" (:-D) but they also add color tension and contrast. I find this better than the next one for this and for the stronger touch of perspective.

The vanishing buildings outside surely enhance both the typical big big city atmosphere and the lazy morning - actually it conveys very much of that feeling of being happy for not having to go out. But could a better focus on the bottles brung something additional or am I a total hyperfocusing freak?

Cheers!

Nick

P.S.: BTW, what cheers? You already drunk out everything! ;-)
