The angle of the light source really exposes the texture. Even better, would be some sort of object in the foreground to provide a subject for the eye.

Terrific sidelighting Musabah. Personally I would have wanted to see some of that great light on lower right of the photo as well. Was this dry mudhole bigger? Would a wider lens stopped down worked also?
