What I find so remarkable here, as on many other images of yours Dave, is that there is an "overall" kind of balance. You'll find nice details on the lights as also in the shadows - it is balance in its best sense. There is no kind of "sacrifice" of something for the better if something else. Even on the seemingly overexposed roof of the church one can still see details - if looking carefully.

The composition is quite "classical" in the sense of containing enough if the main subject as also of the surroundings. In this way, a "peaceful" image - well balanced, not exaggerating.

Without doubt there were many other possibilities for that, including extreme, exaggerating perspectives, but you seem to be more a friend of this kind of "more down to earth view", if I am not mistaken???
