Yes, it makes some things subtler. Perhaps a less spectacular atmosphere but more subtleness.

I must confess thats new to me too, I have never ever chosen a lower contrast before. But I noticed it work for me in these situations with models.

I see the difference of contrast rather as something that decides about the atmosphere of this one rather than its gradients' quality, Harry. But perhaps this softer atmosphere I see on your original image really has its reasons in the looks of the gradients. Quite a subtle matter but therefore also extremely interesting!

I agree on every item in your comment. However I dis choose for a softer stretched contrast here on purpose bcse it shows the gradients better.
Well, we may have different eyes !

Good tonal range and lighting on this B&W, Harry. I'd only think about a bit more contrast (attachment) for enhancing the plasticity of the subject, which still is quite perceivable on the image. The compositiin is OK for me, with the tight framing at the bottom as the only exception. And the pose, though not natural, doesn't even try to convey some "false natural" look and feel, which I find good for such an image. It has something of the artistic poses on images of the 1920-30's.

Hallo Harry ; als een leek in deze tak van de fotografie , spreekt deze opname mij wel aan ...ze is krachtig ,net als het model ook kracht uitstraald....hoofd is inderdaad goed scherp en de pose van het model is goed en krachtig uitgebeeld !!
