About Apparent shadows of “Back light”
Why not holding against the light the illusion of “Freedom”
I would like to demonstrate that freedom is such relative, it is just like a closed environment in another closed environment.
Freedom is like being off after school time. Freedom is going on holidays if we have a job. The freedom of being an entrepreneur or a boss is also relative due to many imposed rules, constraints and increasing responsibility.

Keeping animals in a cage for our purpose, taking away their freedom, but we citizens also are caught in a cage of accepted community or self imposed rules, even if we live in a democratic and free country like France.

Are we really free having a lot of friends sitting in the Park, having good food and drinks together ? Apparently YES.
Of course it would be great and we can enjoy, but even the Park is a green exception in an urbanized area.
It looks so natural and free, but opening hours during the year are strictly programmed related to daylight and working hours of the guards. Community paid guards keep an eye on all visitors what they are allowed to and what they are not. At least here in the Paris area. Also around the Park is a fence not shown here. Is that the freedom we dream about ?
The fence which is shown here behind the woman in thoughts is only one level of our cage. It is giving a view on the “Free” Park BEHIND our cage and the life we all sometimes dream about, but which in reality turns out to be still a cage in again another cage.

We continue to aim at more freedom then we think we already have, but in achieving this we only pass a barrier. Great for the moment of achievement itself but then still living in another cage not seen before and possibly worth … a little fight for more freedom again.

Hi Michele, do not bury your hand in the sand, no need, just some sleep is mostly enough for healing and facing reality. It's not you who has to solve all these economical problems around you.

I don't like to see animals in a cage!!!In my opinion every animal and every person has to be free...but unfortunately it isn't like this! And this is so sad.But it is a great capture...and a thoughtfully one.
Big hugs to you,
Nicki

Hello my dear Paul - Again I must admit that You are right about our cages---- I just choose not to view them altho I realize it is not always a smart way to view things - and our country is in dire straights as well :(
Hugs & Kisses back from Michele~ who wants to bury her head in the sand some days :)

Dear Arif, I would really like to tell you what the lady was thinking, but I forgot to ask.
I'm pretty sure in asking her thoughts she would be smiling again, not that I ever would get the answer :-)
have a nice Sunday evening too my friend,
Paul

Hi John, this shot is not meant as sad at all. Even the caged rabbits do not suffer as long as they get pretty good food (and believe me the food in France is of reputable high quality). "Hard subjects make sometimes the best photos", you said and fortunately I confess that I always experience the freedom of making exceptions on rules such keeping me on track in making the best photos not depending on the subject :-)
all the best my friend,
Paul

Oh dear Michele, your thoughts are free and great. The free part of your brain :-) talks about the inner freedom, not about the external constraints.
Also Democrats and Republicans talk about freedom, which you will not get through meditation but voting on the right candidate :-) who would you believe most, will give you most freedom.
I mean freedom within a certain cage.
Hugs and kisses from Paul

Hi Luca,
glad that you appreciate and experience affinity with my limited freedom concept.

Paul

Hi Jen, freedom is "feeling free in yourself" to a certain limit. Also if your country is occupied and a soldier tells you, would you accept ? But I agree "imagine the cage and it will be there. Imagine the freedom and you will believe you have" But so much starts with imagination and soon needs comparison with reality. At least the thoughts about exist and my picture of these thoughts as well :-)
Have a nice Sunday evening,
je t'embrasse,
Paul

Freedom can be experienced in great safety and rules exist to be broken once ... until next elections, I guess. Thanks for your visit,
Paul

Grazie Teresa. I haven't been away at all :-)
The cages are all imagination as freedom can be experienced as well. Cages are as relative as freedom. Rules exist for being broken :-) Freedom needs limits as well otherwise it can not be defined :-)
baci,
Paul

oh sad shot... well, I don't think we...like to be there in these small cages, well... after that we can... "watch the animal in safe" :-( very sad... it's 100% the same with prison... they are in prison with no good cause... and that is very bad... the meaning of the shot is that counts here Paul and it's hard... but hard subjects sometimes makes the best photos.
be well!

Hello my thoughtful and dear friend ..... you have given me more food for thought.... ahhhh but first things first - 'The Image' - I find it very clear and detailed with very good light and shadow AND a Big story to tell

I can follow your thought pattern about 'Freedom' and also understand what You are saying on one side of my brain BUT I have this other side that says
Freedom comes from within ourselves......... We can be imprisoned or caged within our own minds 'OR' we can be free inside of a cage -making our own prisons.
There are many forms of lack of 'freedom' as You have mentioned- and I respect your thoughts so much - I do hope that You also can understand mine to some degree .....
It is in deep meditation that we are truely 'free'
in my humble opinion -

Big Hugsssssssssss my dear ,
Michele~

The photo is beautiful, and the "About" is very meaningful and encourages to think about the subject.
In fact weight of the "About" is more than the photo itself !

Freedom is feeling free in yourself for a start in my opinion......I dont like rules at all, but what to do without rules? I have seen last week on Crete that if
you can handle your own rules, there is a lot you can do,
without getting into trouble:)) Great shot dear Paul, I always feel sorry for animals although I had a cavia myself in earlier days......^_^
Kisses and hugs, Jen

This world is the most regulated and controlled world since ages. Rules can supply safety but limit our freedom. Is that the balance then ? Freedom versus security ?
