About Slide 1986. Forgot exact location, best guess is Macao.
The savistika (from Sanskrit: svástika स्वस्तिक ) is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing (卐) form or its mirrored left-facing (卍) form. The swastika can also be drawn as a traditional swastika, but with a second 90° bend in each arm.

Archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates from the Neolithic period. An ancient symbol, it occurs mainly in the cultures that are in modern day India and the surrounding area, sometimes as a geometrical motif (as in the Roman Republic and Empire) and sometimes as a religious symbol. It was long widely used in major world religions such as shamanism

Though once commonly used all over much of the world without stigma, because of its iconic usage in Nazi Germany, the symbol has become controversial in the Western world.

Thanks Clive.
I live in Holland, next to Germany and when I saw this sign in Macao I was scared. But lateron I did research and it seemd a nice temple and an innocent sign. Thanks for your add on.

PS , funny that the Nazis who where propagating a pure Arien race used a non Arien symbol. A pity.
Buddhism is a lot better !
Be well. Namaste.

This is NOT a swastika, although many people refer to it as such.
It is a Buddhist sign which will be found on many Buddhist statues and is called a Savistika.
The swastika is/was a sign used by Adolf Hitler and is much hated by many people.
Although you are correct in what you have stated above, I just wanted to enlighten all of the difference.
I would assume that this image represents an entrance into a Buddhist or other religious temple.
Quite a nice shot with reasonable lighting.
