Photography has always been a passion, My years in school were spent clicking photos of wild animals and flower shows. But it did not take me long to realise that photography was a serious business and while passion was definitely an essential ingredient to become a good photographer.Immediately after I obtained a formal bachelor?s degree in geography from Calcutta University in the year 1998, I began my job search in right earnest. I was soon doing the rounds of newspaper offices and luckily all the leading newspaper chains in India, including the Times of India Group and the Ananda Bazar Patrika Group, were good enough to give me an opportunity to freelance for them. Several of my pictures were published prominently in these dailies.But my greatest break definitely came when Reuters, the world?s largest news agency, asked me to freelance for them on a full-time basis from Calcutta.I won 2nd prize,"Nikon My India" photo contest 2003, organised by Times of India one of the leargest news paper in India.
