About Imagine three stunningly beautiful turquoise coloured lakes bordered by pine forests. A tranquil retreat where you can swim or fish, or picnic on the lake shore. Hardly sounds like a typical Andalucian scene, does it! But west of Alora ten minutes from my home that is what you will find.
Malaga's "Lake District" is in fact three artificial lakes created by a dam built across the dramatic 200 m. high Guadalhorce river gorge, known as the Garganta del Chorro.

The colour of the water here is completely natural, yes it really is that shade of turquoise!

If you stopped to look at the castle from the road that goes on the the Torcal you were just above where I live which is opposite the park on the right!

Yes I will do Tony. We stopped to look at the castle and I thought about you then, but had no way of contacting you to say we were there.
I've just now found your phone number again...I'll put it in my mobile.

Your right about the roadside sales, they did used to be everywhere. Times here are changing!

Meg.

Yes,I think you're probably right!About the roadside stall too, where you could line up the photos alongside some watermelons grown in your garden!!!You don't see much of that anymore, compared to 30 years ago!
Do get in touch next time you come up to the Torcal.
Tony

Thanks for the advice Tony, though this was the effect I was after.
Over the last thirty years I have taken photos of this spot many times, when doing so I have always found that without the haze these hills and mountains tend to dominate the shot.

Strange about the postcards.....I have never seen any of this place either. I'm right on the tourist trail to El-Chorro,they have to pass my house.... perhaps I should sell some on the roadside.

I know this particular view very well!I've never seen a postcard of it but this photo would be quite suitable!A UV or a polarizing filter-at the right time of day- would have cut down on the haze and produced a stronger sky.
