Just trying to keep in touch with you and all really interested guys, Dan, and this includes also much of real discussion. You know, as you said we do that for learning, exchanging views, techniques, tricks, and the like. I am completely with you on this point. Without that we would remain on the very first steps, because we would be only tapping on each other's shoulders.
Alas, most of the time we have the "natural born artists" (;-)) in this forum, and they will be very very insulted if you tell them something more technical, and try to analyze what you think about some image. (You see, the whole world is only eager to know their "feelings" no matter of competence. ;-)) I was quite angry about this in the past, and even more about their "comments" that say everything about their feelings and nothing about the image, or even say nothing at all. You know, the typical "Wow! Great image!" - proceed to the next. This is to me the best way to reduce this forum to some kind of Kindergarten. But at the end you can only just keep the close contact with the few interested people, and just ignore the rest. Makes things easier, I guess.
So be it.
Cheers!
Nick

Any of your comments Nick, they are greatly appreciated, because you take the time to explain things as to why you like or dislike something. Not many people do this, and it is valuable in a forum environment, otherwise we never learn.

Just trying to contribute something meaningful to this community, Dan! We kind of "think aloud" in such forums..
BTW, which question of mine you mean?
Cheers!

Thanks Michael. the lighting was very harsh in this spot, so I thought it would work as a combination of HDR and IR. I am gald you like it. Dan

Nice HDR. I like the very versatile shadows and highlights. I personally like the building in the window created by the trees. Michael

Indeed, the path is a *must* here, Dan! And unfortunately taking the tree out of image takes a bit of the path out too. Well, the photographer has to carry an ax too - we had that already, din't we? ;-)
And of course are the big light differences always captivating! This is something I always search for too, and most of the time I just can't get that as well as I wish I could. But the few images that come out well are worth the countless tries. Like for example this one! It's like being in a place full of "sudden" mountains and gorges - turns one breathless!
Cheers!

Thank you so much Martin. I am glad people are enjoying it. I am sure it is not everyones choice, but I love it and are loving the challege. I feel I am able to take photo's now of things that I previously thought plain and boring because the IR brings them to life.

Thank you Nick, your words are so kind. Yes I have fiddled around with the image when I was composing it. Not sure what is needs or doesn't need. I think it needs all that foot path for a balanced composition but not the tree. Unfortunately I had no choices here.
It was the strong light differences that caught my eye and I wondered how that would work as an HDR IR shot, I think it worked well.

An extremely strong for its version of reality, Dan, and still so much of a scene of an imanainative story! The only thing I would consider would be the trunk at the left - perhaps crop it off? (Attachment). But then the scene becomes much flatter, doesn't it?
Anyway, its ultra high dynamics bring all the tension that it needs in its reduced color palette. There is stringency and at the same time such a wealth of details in a game of light and shadow on this one! In its own ways it also resembles an impressionistic image but ourely in the sense of capturing the momentary light!
Thanks a bunch for the dedication! And I guess you should continue on this stype. Not only it works well, it works amazingly well!
Cheers!
Nick

VEry nice lighting conditions Dan, the way the shadows and the lighted parts of the plants looks like is surely a great element... plus the unique tones of IR that always gives a difference from the common tones!

Agree of tunnel analogy indeed... but my opinion in this situation the right part it’s in total harmony the left causing disturbance because the BKR is much lighter also besides the left tree the brunch left top just hanging like empty bug. So wonder is the sacrifice worth it :):):) Good to share the dialog of our views,Dan, very cool:) Harry

Thank you so much Harry. The filter seems stuck to the camera ;-).
Not too sure about the cropping, but I see what you are saying. Maybe Cropping the left???
I feel cropping looses head room, gives you the feel of tunnel vision. Loose too much of the two trees that are the focal point. Plus I would loose the leave colour differences that I was trying to display

You have great dedication, Dan; I like the experiment and The angle view ! My personal taste is cropping 1" from the top down to exclude the left partial view of the tree...I think over all that will compose much tighter!!! Cheers, Harry
