Hey Tim, thanks, will check out the army navy store...always up for that! We have something like 300 days of sunshine here in Colorado but those insulated NEOS might be the ticket for trekking in the snow.
Congrats on all the great shots in difficult conditions!

I do all of the above to get in but am using the simplest thing first...driving as close as possible with a good GPS that has the local topo maps. That way I can see interesting areas that I can't see, like ponds and meadows and such. I wear these over boots called "NEOs" that are like nylon rubber boots that go to your knees so that i can walk across streams and bogs and not to worry. They fit right over my running shoes or hiking boots. Also they are good for getting in and out of boats. Inside my van I have a inflatable Kayak to get into places for that unique water level view. It takes 3 min to inflate and is good in the ocean. I have a dbl. inflatable kayak too for gear or second person. All in all the best thing i own for all this is the NEOS....i highly recommend them, I just leave them in the car and go to wet places whenever i see them and don't need special boots. here is a link: http://www.overshoe.com/ I ordered mine from this place in Maine: http://store.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=armynavy&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=53798854&Count2=970939278&Keyword=neos&Target=products.asp
Hope this covers some of your questions Kes.

Yes, the green is unique, and the standing tree's shadows across the waterlogged trees tells the story of time. Just curious, are you packing in, or driving or boating to get to these locations?

Wow, very lovely. I like the clearness and penetration through the water. The shadows on the water create a fantastic break of the colours and then with the light shining on the water nice patterns showing through of the mountain reflections
