WOW...that was a lot of money Jen!!When you think that you were ill,the captain and his crew was not kind..its great to hear your experiences too.Yes I saw Assuan,of course the Pyramids from Giza,Alexandria,we did a boat trip on the Nil to the Valley of the Kings and,and,and...LOL!.It is long time ago,I was very young and it was my first big trip what I did.I had no experience...not like now...and on this time I had only a very small camera and the pictures were not so good. But I think it was not the last time that I was there.Such an interesting history I wanted to see this one more time. It is so interesting to talk to somebody who likes to travel so much as I do. Do you have an email address?? Have a wonderful afternoon!! Hugs,Nicki

Jen,
It was on the news for many years that travellers were robbed and taken hostage for money. About safety, wanna change for a busride in Yemen over the mountains and the driver chewing kat ( sedative drug ) ? The bus hit a rock and I was launched from my seat to the other side of the bus ...:-)

Good tonal range and very good details, Jen! Your focus was very good here. But the composition is unfinished, isn't it? Especially those guys at the bottom - they are the protagonists! And as much of the top is nice to have but not necessary, I think it would be better to turn the camera a bit downwards.
Best wishes and keep it up!
Nick

Morning Wolf, Is this what you know or heard? They told us later that they just want to collect the money of US this way...a thousand euro is really something dear and this wasnt safe at all..loll You should have seen this ship, the smell, the food, the people...I think Sudan was one of the most safest countries I've ever seen! Of course not the part of Dafur, even worked on my way in Sudan, slept outside etc....:) xxJen

Not as brave as it seems dear Robbie, i have been in quite some odd and dangerous situations, but somehow something keeps me safe on the way:) Mostly people are nice, but I learned to stick to women on my ways..loll Just because we seem to have more in common as for children, sharing food, getting somewhere safe and fight for rights:)) Have a nice day dear, Jen

Ahhhhh...I can see what you mean dear John, they have the same trouble at the Spanish islands coming from Africa, there is not much you can do and its so sad to see these poor people trying to get away from their situation... lot of them die on the way...how to make the world better dear John? Maybe at least our shots might just help a bit:)) hugs Jen

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah how busy it is. Via the road it is to dangerous, foreigners may get robbed or hyjacked/kidnapped for money and thats not good for tourism.

yea, I know that, same problem as there are many times tiny and bad - rusty boats being at the sea taking people from Turkey, people they cames many times from Irak, Iran or EVEN Pakistan and India to Greece and generaly to Europe, there can be 100s of people in boats that there length is not bigger than 15 meters!!!!!

No, you're right dear Nicki, it was sooo very cold at night, lot of wind and no sheltering, have more of these shots, where they put a blanket as to shelter in the bloody hot sun in daytime, i was feeling sick of the difference, so were most people! Laying in my sleepingbag and a not very nice captain and crew made it worse... We had to pay a lot of money just to cross here, and they do have roads there!!! That was the amazing part, just to get money from foreigners we had to take this boat...costed 1000 euro !!! with the car coming 2 days later in Wadi Halfa...:) After this we told other overlanders to avoid this whole boattrip and they drove through Saudi Arabia, which was longer but much cheaper, wish we had done that also, but well..it was done and a different experience....:) I like your history really well, its great to hear your experiences, as everyone has different ones, must have been tough by train as well, have you seen Aswan as well and the great culture and history there, amazing wasn't it? Hope you have some shots from your trip as well? Bigbig hugs Jenxx

My idea John, I know there are worse ways of travelling, but this was tough, really tough....the ship took off about 5 hours after the expected time, it was so very hot inside, outside, on the road, no shade at all in daytime..... I think those people kept each other warm, much more then I was;)) Just laying there in my sleepingbag on the iron, brrrr....:) I will put it in journalism, dont know what that means, but anyhow, thank you sweety! xx

I think that it was not very warm outside Jen!Poor people ..as you said treated like cattles.I was on Egypt 26 years ago and I made a ride with a train, nearby the same as you with the boat.On the one side it was funny to see all the different people but on the other way we traveled together with goats, chicken, big bags and a lot of things in this train..:))))!Thanks God we had a reserved seat, the most people had to stay the whole time!We traveled from Cairo to Assuan. Sorry about my history:))I can understand these people and I'm sure that they were happy to meet you and that you had a nice time with them even with all the inconvenience! Great picture with a good composition and a very interesting about!! Hugs my dear, Nicki

Nooooooo...not busy at all, not like in Cairo;) You hadn't seen the people inside!! You funny guy..lolll Yeah there were lifeboats, indeed..hahaa About 4???

Well, at least it wasn't busy!
This is a fascinating and somehow disturbing scene, although I guess it shouldn't be as it is presumably a "normal" trip across. And look, it's even got lifeboats and liferafts!
All I would suggest here is perhaps a frame of some sort, just to hold it in against the UF background. Even a single pixel black outline would be enough.
