About This is one of the few times in both my safaris that I was a little nervous with our proximity to the animals. It always seemed to be with lions; maybe because they are so lazy during the day it is easier to get closer. I was looking at this shot trying to remember how close we were when I realised this was shot with the 300mm and not the 500 mm (and I didn't crop during editing), I guess it was a case of too close for comfort for both me and the lion.

Yeah, if you can hear the lion snoring once the truck engine stops, you're probably a little close. But whatever it takes to get the shot, right?
