I didn't notice the the horizon was not straight. John's suggestion is a good one. The double shot gives a closer presentation of what you actually saw. I love the peacefulness of this. It reminds me of gentle times in the summer at the lake. MAry

Maybe I am not a exacting man but I do love this artistic shot. I think so this is a well composed and deliberate work. The color range and lights on the water are fantastic, so moody. However I do love this work by You, dear my friend.
Have a nice day dear Michele, Robert

Dear Michele, the best time to take the full moon setting is at dawn, when the sun is just rising behind you and giving some light to the waves, or whatever is in the foreground. This has worked well for me many times at the coast. Of course, you still want to have a fast enough ISO to stop any streaking of the moon. Also, make sure your lens is absolutely spotless, and no filters on the front to add flare.
On the other hand, if you wish to photograph the full moon rising, it is best done at sunset the day before the actual full moon, when there is still enough light on the landscape to give detail to the foreground and make a more even exposure.
Hope these suggestions help.

...ahh... I forget to write something else... of course I think we can do something on a computer program like PhotoShop or Corel Photo Paint, we can took a shot with good details (fast exposure on tight frame...) and collage it on the sky of a long exposure night landscape...
|
|
|
John Hatz
{K:156973} 1/30/2008

difficult shot... well I need to know what you want to have here... for excample you cannot have bothly land texture AND details on the moon... for moon details you must have fast exposure (for a tight frame using a big lens...500mm for excample... you need even 1/600 sec shuter speed!!! ISO is also something difficult, a good way to get a good landscape at perfect night is to use bulb (many many seconds... or even minutes...), wide aperture (for excample f/2.8), less ISO speed... even ISO100 is lot... pitty that the most low price SLRs don't have ISO 50, and noise reduction of course... plus a very good heavy tripod and I think a tele-control on the camera helps too...as even our fingers on the shutter makes small motions to the camera. All these togather and of course a very 'clear' lens with as big as it can be aperture... hope I help a bit...and hope you understand my bad english too... :-) be well Michele!

Hi. next time you'll be shooting that kind of scene you may do two exposures, one for the Moon (smaller one) and one for the water and the moonlit parth (a longer so that the parth is large and long). In PS it's easy to combine them (screen mode). regards, Valerij
