About This is one of the wrecks we came across in the Antarctic. This is the Guvernoren, a 3400 ton Norwegian Whaling factory ship that was built in 1891 as a cargo ship and converted for the use as a factory ship in 1914. The ship caught fire and was beached in 1915 right here where we found her, half submerged but amazingly intact for the length of time at this location. Upon looking within the rusting hull you could discern the stern planks far below the surface of the water. The clarity of the sea here was amazing where seemingly there is no limit to the depths unveiled.

Wow Tim this is a beautiful photo!
I'm unsettled by large boats (and a bit scared of water) but even so I think this is great. The composition is good, and I think the exposure is just right.

Great work!

Not much choice here Debjit....we were in zodiacs and i had to use whatever angles that happened as we cruised by.

Hi Jordi,

The shore is coming from a distance to much closer on the right. as it approaches the shore line goes lower in the image. Plus the angle at which the ship is lying accentuates the look of it being off kilter.

Excellent composition. It's the horizon line behind the ship (on the left) unleveled? Great colors, too.
