About Just watched Saints beaten by Arsenal in Cup Final. Saints were the side I have supported for 50 years ! I picked this Periwinkle and placed it on a soft yellow card( the colours Saints were playing in ) Took it on Macro by available light outside . Minutes later the heavens opened and it hasn't stopped since .

Thanks Betsy . Yes I do wake at odd times but it doesn't bother me as I can please myself when I nod off as I'm much older than most on this site :))
I have done the same flower with a white background but I prefer this one . I had just walked home after a wonderful dinner cooked by my son and 3 large glasses of Shiraz !! I plucked this Vinca from his garden while passing . It is also grown as ground cover here and once established is hard to remove but still beautiful .

Mavis, you're leaving comments in the wee hours of the morning, you should be in bed! This is amazing because it is such a small flower and you were able to capture it so well. I have some of this growing in my lawn under some pine trees, it is used as ground cover here for shady areas. I like the diagonal of the composition and the way the soft yellow background melts into the cream of the leaves. You've made this simple plant look like some sort of exotic orchid, well done.

Nice quality and good focus. I am not sure about the colour you used at the background. Perchaps anouther colour that makes better contrast with the leafs could be better.

Hi Mavis.Soory for the Arsenal loss, but Leaverpool is my favorite. Since I came to the States I couldn't watch any football (Soccer!). Excellent colors and composition. Very good lighting and DOF. I don't like the frame though. Overall - Excellent (6/7). PS- it has been pouring here in Missouri as bad as where you are (London I assume!) Best regards.

Mavis Dean.. this reminds me of someone who loves posting flowers on this forum using good graphics and flowers. I am deliberately spamming you.. and telling you should see her works.. not mine.. her name is "Anna Wolf" and you both share a common grounds, taste and philosophy.. and this is her link.. http://www.usefilm.com/browse.php?mode=port&data=15139 .. enjoy..

Mavis - excellent picture, great presentation. The background adds to the picture, especially the out of focus leaves with the beige edges that merge into the background - Bob T.
