Hi John, thanks for the comment! I made an error in the exposure information here and after I checked the EXIF the actual readings were shutter 1,000 and aperture 8.9, about the best dof I am capable of with my camera.

Very good sharp details over the whole main object, and more than that, a very well balanced lighting on those white and yellow buds that are so easy to overexpose! The contrast to the fly is also great, and makes more visible how well balanced to exposure was in order to catch all details both of the flowers and the fly in so different dynamics regions. Only perhaps the buds at the bottom should be also in focus.

Good shot Dave, it might be a bit better the focus here, hmmm, perchaps the flowers as an area was very big for an f/3.5, I think f8 needed here (for compact camera) but still a nice photo, good the details on the fly's face.
