I can't believe I didn't see this before, Shelby -- it's fabulous. I love the tones, and the contrast seems just exactly right to me. I also think it's a wonderful composition -- and I haven't even begun to say anything about the photograph itself, ti's soul & spirit -- just magical! I'm earmarking your portfolio so I won't forget to keep an eye on what you're up to -- always great to see, but too darned late now to comment on the newer stuff.

I wanted this to be more atmospheric than a kid pic, it's not about the children so much as their relationship to nature, I wanted them in the shot to convey that sense of awe, the texture of the ground and the melting of the distance on a foggy cold morning were the subjects, the children were to be the observers seen inside of the frame. wanted to convey a sense of where they have walked to reach this point where they see reality give way to illusions.

I like the mood a lot, as well the kids angle capture. However, I think this pic could have a much great impact with a bit more detail on them. It seems to me that you set the best focus on foreground (the plants near you) and left the children to a second focus framing, wich, in my opinion wasn't the best choice. Nice work, though. if this one is not your best i'me running to se the others...
i like the progression to black, in the bottom, to white at the top...
i like many things else but i'me not able to explain many subtile things in english.
