Hello AJ. I know exactly what you mean about large areas of white and the wide range of tones. I photograph her sleeping with fill flash and with natural light only. The shot with the fill flash worked best.

Very elegant shot. I like this one because there are "cat shapes" in there without showing the whole cat or the whole head.
Good sharp focus around the eyes (actually the DOF seems quite wide) and no burnt out patches - that might seem like an odd comment, but so many animal / bird shots seem to have them, especially where there are large areas of white or a wide range of tones, as here.
