About An eerily whimsical photo-illustration composite using some of my other images, both film and digital. Attempted a more graphic look to this image. Inspired by environmental politics after a trip to Page, Arizona and southern Utah. Glen Canyon used to be one of the natural wonders of the world until 1963. Today it is covered by Lake Powell.

I read everyone elses comments and I'm new to the site and don't want to sound contentious, plus my mum always said "if you've got nothing nice to say then say nothing" (sorry mum). I love all the elements, that sky alone makes me want to sell all my camera equipment and take up crochet because it is lovely, its just that the composite looks a little too contrived for my liking. Its not a realistic enough scene to fool someone into thinking it actually happened but not surreal enough to shout out technical excellence in Photoshop. Maybe that just gives it a subtlety that I'm missing. I think enough people here have expressed the opposite so please ignore me I'll be at the store buying wool and needles!

Very effective composite, although PS composites are not my thing. You speak honestly and intelligently about your technique and your subject and that elevates this work above the average image in this genre. It is a haunting image, the child is well placed and almost Stephen King-like, as if she holds some magical powers to summon nature's forces at her will. You did a great job, IMO. Only thing i'm if-y about is the clarity of her shadow in the bottom part of the frame. It seems to me her face should be dark and mysterious as the water is. But i'm sure you tried it both ways and made an artistic decision to lighten her up. i defer to you as the creator! Congrats on Editor's choice! best regards: kat~

Hi Adrew,
it is a wonderful compotion
a nice landscape and architecture picture,
wonderful work in b/w and a good playing with Tendecy
Fore my viewing is also a good example is a valuable picture for education. You must know i am a photo teacher :-)).
For m a small blemish a super presantation for sepia coloring?
However it is nevertheless an excellent picture, congratulation
greetings from Rolf Rock (rolfrock@slovanet.sk)
If you have a possibility please visite my page again for my newest pictures.
Thanks !!!

P.S. i want to ask you to give me your email adress i have some questions to you. I like your work

Oh! pure beauty!
Talent and sensibility together.
So different from what one usually sees of Lake Powell. I have very fond memories of Page and the trip in a house boat on the lake
Thank you:-)

First of all, I will say that, I am not a photographer but an author... I visit this site to renew my vision, my inspiration to write. Although I have not been here long, I have been here long enough to ask... why haven't you been featured on usefilm.com's daily page? You are an WONDERFUL artist, visionary...a pictorial story teller! Yes!

I have to admit, however, that I was disappointed when I visited your website...it was not YOUR site but a work site. Your photos on usefilm made me hungry for more. Where is your PORTFOLIO SITE?

In closing, thank you for the gift you left here. I thoroughly enjoyed your art and I am inspired by it! Joan

Very creepy and also very beautiful, Andrew -- I love the tones and contrast and the whole surreal feeling to this. I'm not absolutely sure about the grey band at the bottom. Will have to look again and think about it. Usually, that's a GOOD thing, when a photograph compels me to return to it.

Love the way this has been put together... works beautifully. The face of the reflection seems a bit off... like it might need to be blurred just a touch more.
Sepia toning works well here... gives the eerie, old feel you were going for.
