WIW! congrats on the stock house purchase! The reason I mentione about the settings, is because I made a similar mistake on the 30D settings. I was shooting at iso1600 in summer...:)
Congrats again.

Ed: Thank you for your kind words and suggestions. All my in-camera settings are set to neutral. I use RAW exclusively. Birds are a funny subject. When I set the eye by the "thirds" rule I get complaints that there isn't enough "room" in front of and above their heads in the frame. I suppose I can't win. The 1D MKIII does tend to produce highly saturated images. I like them that way and this image may be over the top but it was just picked up by a stock house the way it is so I guess I will leave it. No offense, everyone has personal preferences and I would be the last guy to ask them to change. Thanks again.

Hi Fred, another great hummer. I would recommend triming a bit of the right and desaturate de photo. Its glowing! Do you have the in-camera setting to over-saturate? I have the 30D ( I can only dream of the 1D MK3) and I shoot with my settings to "0" zero and adjust everything during RAW convertion. The photo process is as crucial as the taking of the photo. I have a attached a photo with my suggestions. For the crop and the desat. I just put its eye on the upper rule of thirds crossing. I desat -30

Michael: I wouldn't call it control. It's more like serendipity. The background here was a tile patio floor and some hanging plants. Thank you for the good thoughts.

Joel: Unfortunately, her attention was riveted upon the other birds at the feeder. I was lucky she turned her head this far. Yes, bokeh is correct. It is from the Japanese word "boke" (pronounced bo-keh) which literally means fuzziness or dizziness. Thank you for your gracious remarks.

Yamil: It was wonderful to visit your country and meet so many kind and gracious residents. We had a great time but we did get rained on a time or two. Mostly, it was dry, however.

Dave: Thanks. She was at the minimum focusing distance so I had to wobble back and forth to get her in focus.

Wow. Absolutely superb, great composition, razor sharp across almost the whole bird, and really nice quality background blur (I believe this is referred to as "bokeh", although I could be completely wrong). I can't think of anything that would improve this image, unless it had perhaps looked towards the camera as you'd taken the photo! ;) 7+
Best regards,
Joel.

Bird pose is best, expos well done, need to more sharpness, I prefer closest crop for it. Warm and saturate colors are eye catch. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes: Waiting forever
