Hey thanks Eb....always great to hear from you...being unschooled i just go with what "feels" right after a lot of trial and error. I am glad the judges thought what you were doing was intriguing. For the most part I try to be attentive to how my eye functions when i see a image. For example, what areas my eye tends to go to first and whether there are too many distractions from the area that i want ultimately to be the final resting place for the eye.

I am intrigued by your ability to always find a good foreground element, Tim! The strong element in the foreground subject allows you to delicately balance the lake shore at the mid line. I am noticing and thinking about this compositional ploy because I had a recent experience with a judge who seemed to be wondering how I was able to "pull off" a bisecting image. I have also been told, on an other occasion that the Japanese aptly call the bisection "hara-kiri." Anyways, that's my thought! Eb
